Recovery Scams
After being scammed, victims often receive offers from "recovery experts" who promise to get their money back - for a fee. These are almost always scams themselves.
How Recovery Scams Work
Recovery scammers obtain lists of previous fraud victims (sometimes from the original scammers themselves). They contact victims claiming to be government agencies, law firms, or recovery specialists who can retrieve lost funds.
They request upfront fees for "processing," "taxes," or "legal costs." Some even claim to have already recovered the money - you just need to pay release fees. It's the same advance fee fraud all over again.

How to Identify Legitimate Help
Legitimate organizations (like ESRN) never cold-call victims, never guarantee recovery, are transparent about success rates and limitations, and never require large upfront payments. Our initial consultation is always free.
