Tech Support Scams

Scammers pose as Microsoft, Apple, or internet providers to gain remote access to your computer. They then steal data or money directly from your accounts.

How Tech Support Scams Work

You receive an unexpected call claiming to be from Microsoft or your ISP, warning of viruses or hackers on your computer. Or you see a scary pop-up with a phone number to call.

The scammer convinces you to install remote access software (TeamViewer, AnyDesk). Once connected, they can see your screen, access your files, and even log into your online banking while you watch.
